I believe this tambourine, with hide drum and red painted frame, dates to the early 20th century, at some point along the way becoming the instrument of a Geraldine Wallace, who wrote her name and address inside of a heart on the face, and, more secretly, a G. W. + F. D. on the flip side of the drum. I really
