a bit hard to read but the year--1880--is clear

and even more so in combination with this mysterious small slit cut through the lid

as I think having them is pretty nice and makes one feel like a proper cook

with graphite drawn face and details

and a note taped to the reverse that identifies it as having been "Daniel Ladd's in remembrance on Sally Sanborn deceased 1802
