after our mainstay Gewürztraminer farmer lost her crop to steady rains that pummeled the valley in late-September

with occasional gentle pump-overs

steeply sloping vineyard in a small side valley of the middle section of the Nahe River

Once hand harvested the fruit was kept intact and partially foot crushed before transferred to open fermenters where it remained for three weeks

2022 Domaine du Gringet, 'La Paille' Ayze Blanc, Savoie, France Santa Duc toasted oakThe Gringet here comes from a South facing, sunny and precocious terroir planted at old vines (between 1929 and 1931) on white marls. After a gentle, slow cycle press and 24 hour dbourbage, the wine feeds into concrete eggs where it rests until bottling. Once bottled (always unfiltered and unfined) it sees a further 10 month ageing in bottle.
