Clematis fremontii Zaire Digitalis obscura had me completelyThe prairie native (Nebraska, Kansas) Clematis fremontii is one of the of many little known native non climbing dwarf bush clematis that are strangely missing from widespread cultivation. The dark pubescent stems are adorned with fuzzy oval green leaves. The clumps are topped from June through August with narrow pinkish purple bells, each with recurved tips that reveal the contrasting white interior.
